What must we think about the 2015 vintage in the french vineyard? Simply, 2015 is an exceptional vintage! In fact, an astonishing custody potential, an atypical character, but you have to take into consideration the differences from one region to another. Fist of all, it was the most shinny and warm year like we hadn’t seen in a long time. The vineyard was nevertheless the victim of a long period of heat and drought, which made the vineyard suffer throughout July 2015. This impact was even more disturbing for the vineyard of Eastern France, with its granitic soils, with the highest peaks of heat. We introduce you today a classification of the great vintages of 2015 for the great French appellations.

ALSACE – Global mark of the vintage: 17/20

An acidity that resisted heat well, but with low yields. Pierre Trimbach, famous winemaker in Alsace of Domaine Trimbach, announced that this vintage is a very large one, with a unique character and very different from other historical vintages of drought: 1976, 2003. We will find dry wines from Alsace rich in alcohol, with an incredible balance and a unique acidity. A very great vintage even if the volume are quite low.

Incredible vintage for the famous vineyard of Bordeaux. Each earth of appellations has  benefited of it. The heavy rainfall of the 2014-2015 winter created sufficient reserves to let the vineyard face the scorching summer. The nature knew how to defend itself. And finally, it offer beautiful vines, very rich in natural sugar. Magnificent white wines, full of sparkles, silky reds, gourmet and crunchy with a superb fruitiness.

The 2015 vintage is quite an early one. Nevertheless, the summer was exceptional. Despite of some early grape harvest, it’s a wonderful year! We can also highlight the fact that none hails has disturb the vin excepted some parcels at Chablis. Concerning all the others vineyards, it was beautiful, really good conditions which gave the birth of perfect maturity grapes. However, this vintage yield were lower than expected.

NORTH RHÔNE – Global mark of this vintage  : 17/20

A very, very great vintage ! Exceptional for all the winemakers, something never seen before! A scorching summer also here but rains arrived at the right time, in the middle of August. Rainfalls were abundant but sun came back quickly. The wind played a relatively important role in this successful vintage. In fact, it permit a state of health and a really regular maturity of grapes. Concerning the production, the volume is remarkable ! 40hl/ha if not more, which is a pretty good average. Quite more varied than in the north of appellation, nevertheless, also a real remarkable vintage!  The great Syrahs are incredibles at Châteauneuf-Du-Pape. Generally, wines of the South Rhône of 2015 are really balanced. The white wines are wonderful too.

An ideal summer on the Loire vineyard, much less agressive than eastern France, with fresh nights and luminosity. However, the vine has suffered of rainfalls during September. Some vines were able to see a deterioration of grapes. Globally, despite some difficult climate conditions, the Loire and his magnificent vine enjoyed great wines.
